Challenge
The printed sheet asked too much of the operator. Not in volume, but in interpretation. Ten to twelve variables, no sequence that followed the physical logic of the machine, no single language for how the day ran. Each operator read the same process through a different code. When those readings diverged, the errors followed.
Approach
Weeks on the floor before a single sketch was drawn. The question was never what the solution should do, it was what the operator needed at each moment of the shift. That answer shaped the entire design.
Solution
The operator starts the shift with a clear order queue. At changeovers, a single screen surfaces only what's needed for that specific run, no scrolling, no cross referencing. Built by directing AI coding agents through several rounds of floor testing. The interface was adjusted based on operator feedback, and tested again. The people who use it every day helped shape how it works.
Results
Early testing confirmed what the design assumed. Changeovers ran 70% faster, configuration errors fell to near zero. The packaging line now keeps pace with the roasting machine without delays. The operators who tested it didn't need to be convinced.
